Well, look what the cat dragged in. You can only pack so long before a young woman’s fancy turn to thoughts of weblogs, I suppose. Today is just a quick post-and-run, but I’ll be back for good soon…

From Medley comes this list of the top one hundred banned books of the 1990s. So, putting aside that fact that without Judy Blume, Maurice Sendak, Roald Dalh, and Madeleine L’Engle I would have had nothing to read in my early years, one has to boggle at the fact that number eighty-seven on the illustrious list is Where’s Waldo?. I always knew that stripe-shirted bastard was up to no good.

Last night I was watching that delightful Steve Nash and the Canadian Men’s Basketball team beat the World Champs from Yugoslavia at the Olympics, when for some reason I got to thinking about Australian Christmas. “Self,” I thought, “I wonder if Australians sing carols about ‘dashing through the snow’ and other cold weather activities?” Anyway, for the southern hemisphere-impaired, here’s the lyrics to an Aussie Christmas medley. (I have no idea what a “wattle” is, but frankly it sounds a bit rude.)

While I was sick last month, I became totally enthralled with Starsky and Hutch — That car! That hair! That hideous wool coat! I just have one question though.. are they, or aren’t they?

I hate to have to do this, but Pith and Vinegar is going on haitus for two weeks. At the moment it looks like I’m moving to Vancouver in six days (not two weeks), and I have yet to find a new home or pack anything. (I don’t even have boxes!) I’ll be back as soon as I can get my Internet access hooked up at the new place.
In the meantime, I’ll still be checking my e-mail, and Pith will be set to churn out random links from the past. See y’all soon!

Has this recent interview with Dr. Thompson made the rounds yet? (I just found it amongst a bunch of expired bookmarks..) Apparently the Good Doctor is voting Nader this year, which for some reason makes me chuckle.

Eeep.. intriguing things are afoot today in the Real Life of Jess. Anyway, I have to go do the Nervous Shuffle of Impending Exciting News (patent pending) around the living room now.
Well, goodness me, it looks like I’m moving to Vancouver in a couple of weeks to start my new position as, err, a computer-y, Web-y, um, helpful person. (Note to Self: Hurry up and create menacing job title for unexpected meetings with old highschool classmates.) Eeeeeeeexcellent.

According to the latest rumours about Kevin Smith’s next movie (scroll down to yesterday’s “NewsBites”), the leads will be several characters from his previous films, including the inimitable Brodie. And, as any “Mallrats” fan will tell you, more Brodie is a Good Thing.

“Baby Animals whose Heads Julia Roberts has Bitten Off or Eaten Whole as Snacks” — Helpfully broken down into vertebrate and invertebrate groupings! (I suppose Hell hath no fury like a webmaster sued.. )
