Y’know, if this here Internet thing fails horribly and we all burn our computers, thereby putting me out of a job, I think I have a back-up vocational calling as a Grammar Hotline Operator. (Although ideally, I’d prefer my official job title to be ‘Punctuation Evangelist’.)

Hot damn.. a provincial election (for B.C.) was called yesterday, and it looks like its going to be a dirty one. I’m already sick of seeing children used as campaign props — yesterday a major intersection by my house was swarming with apple-cheeked kids holding signs for some Liberal candidate. “Oh, thank you small child, who is too young to vote much less make rational decisions, for helping me decide who to endorse as our next provincial leader. Would you like a cookie?” In short, I feel a spate of misanthropic election commentary coming on, so be forewarned.

Short Musings from a Recent NBA Game Attendance:
1. Canadians, en masse, do a fairly pathetic job of shouting, stomping, and/or otherwise “getting into the game”.
2. The Vancouver Grizzlies Memphis Express should invest in a rebounder.
3. The extreme similarity between my MP3 collection and the songs played at an NBA game to get the crowd moving is more than a little embarrassing. (Damn you, Napster, and your handy access to terabytes of crap!)

Hungover.net seems to cheerfully dispense a variety of hangover cures from past and present (Kudzu? Really?) — it’s almost enough to drive one to drink.

Can anyone recommend a resource or two (online or IRL) for an experienced web gal (like, oh, say, moi) who suddenly finds herself in charge of a dedicated Linux server? It’s going to have all the usual suspects pre-installed (yay!), but I’d still like to do a little advanced reading to see what I’m setting myself up for…

Survivor fans who hate suprises and love spoilers might want to take a gander at this. (Note: no spoilers are shown on the immediate linked page. I like suprises, so if you check out this site, don’t tell me what it says!)
