gaming the system
This entry is pretty much a gamer-related link dump because in seven hours I am off to Seattle to see awesome friends and go to PAX (“a game festival for tabletop, videogame, and PC gamers”). I have packed my Nintendo DS and my World of Warcraft priest shirt, and I am ready to geek out to a large degree.
Anyway, link dump while I avoid doing any work today:
- This makes me extremely happy: Abe’s Oddysee and Abe’s Exoddus are coming to Steam! These are classic clever puzzle games, and I played them for hours back in the day on Playstation. (“Follow me!” “Okay.”) Console games have never been my forte, though — I have old, slow thumbs — so picking them up for cheap on the PC will be a treat.
- Snack on this Companion Cube cake. Or game-related cookies. Or, hey, why not get your 4 year old a Grand Theft Auto cake for his birthday! Wait.. what? (By the way, one day someone I know is getting this cake.)
- Team Fortress 2 meets D&D alignments
Okay, that’s probably it for now. Time to wander around the office some more and stare at the clock.

I have no idea what any of that meant…but I hope you have fun!

A building with 50,000 gamer geeks from around North America, and one of them had the flu… and then the rest of us did.
However, I had a grand time until then!

This comment is actually for your ‘lost and hopefully found’ post of Aug 2, 2008. But the [comment] link there does not work.
you wondered there…
“(Does something cause consternation or give consternation? Next week I start a new job as a Technical Writer — eeeeek! — and these small issues of grammar have become irrationally important to me.”
Ha. Found this post while wondering the same thing. What did you decide..??
I decided you can give yourself consternation …but you can not give it to someone else. Someone had written something about ‘receiving consternation’ from others and that just seemed wrong to me.
I had hoped your post might give me guidance . . .but alas…
Thanks anyway. …:minism:…
